Down Town Pripryat

Down Town Pripryat - Chernobyl
Its usually described as a village, but Prypriat was a town of 50,000 people, all of whom were evacuated within days of the accident. Now, no one lives here: its just a kilometer from the reactor that exploded.

The average age of this new Soviet 'Atomic' town was 25. It was a place to aspire to, with swimming pools, and a stadium. It even had its own department store, and the Amusement Park which was never opened.
